Next week, the legislature will be voting on whether to put a $10 billion school bond on the ballot for fund facilities improvements at California public schools. The last bond failed on the ballot in 2020, and there is plenty of pent of demand for improvements across the state. Low-income school districts like Lynwood have historically gotten far less money from the state for school improvements than wealthy districts, because of the inequitable way that funds are distributed by the state. Some of Lynwood schools were built in 100 years ago and are in dire need of modernization.
